Description

Your handmade makes deserve a proper little spotlight moment…and these wooden buttons are just the thing! Whatever you’re making; a snug little hat, a cosy cardi, or something completely unique…these engraved beauties add a personal, professional touch that’ll make your creations feel extra special.

Each button is made from smooth 3mm birch laserply and engraved by Larry (my trusty laser machine pal) with your choice of wording and design; from personalised names to sweet heart motifs.

Design options include:

  • Crocheted by… (with your name and one of 3 yarny illustrations)

  • Crocheted with love (3 different image options, no name)

  • Stitched by… (add your name!)

  • Knitted with love by…(add your name!)

  • Made with love by… ((add your name! And 2 image options available)

  • Or mix and match for your own unique combo!

Each one is 25mm wide with two stitching holes — easy to sew on to your latest masterpiece.

What you’ll get:

  • 6 custom engraved wooden button (25mm, 3mm thick)

  • Your choice of wording and motif

  • Made from natural birch laserply

  • Designed and made by me in my cosy UK studio

A note on wood:
Because birch is a natural material, you might spot a little variation in colour or grain. That’s part of the charm! No two buttons are identical — each one has its own little character.

You’ll need to:

  • Let me know your chosen name to be engraved onto the buttons – please add this to the personalisation box below (personalised buttons only).

  • Use a needle and thread to sew it onto your finished make.

These are perfect for market stock, handmade gifts, or adding a warm, personal signature to your own projects. Go on…make your mark!

And just so you know…
Your buttons will arrive beautifully packaged in one of my kraft gift boxes, finished with a little ribbon. Perfect for gifting – or just giving yourself a well-earned treat (because let’s be honest… you deserve it!).

Hello there, it’s Nicola here and I’m The Secret Crocheter! I know what you’re thinking already: ‘it’s not much of a secret is it?!’ Well, no – you’re absolutely bang on there.  But I can explain, I promise!

So, the thing is, I used to be a primary school teacher, and to cut a long story short, I fell out of love with teaching children and fell in love with teaching adults how to crochet instead.  Nothing wrong with that, I hear you say…nope, nothing at all, apart from I was doing a bit of both at the same time (and I didn’t want my headteacher to know), so I had to teach crochet in secret…and so The Secret Crocheter was born!

I’ve always been able to crochet, ever since my mum taught me when I was around 8 years old, but I didn’t truly understand its importance in my life until I started to struggle with anxiety in my 30s.  In the midst of panicking and sweating over something quite irrational, I discovered that crochet released a calmness in me that I couldn’t find anywhere else.  I suppose the effects are similar to mindfulness, in that all I was focussing on was the here and now of crocheting.  And of course, this was followed very quickly by a deep joy when I’d created something that I could either wear, use or give as a gift. I don’t think it is an exaggeration to say that crochet sort of healed me, and I soon wanted to share this skill with others.

One thing led to another and before I knew it, Mr SC had built me The Crochet Cabin, which is where I spend my days teaching wannabe crocheters how to crochethosting crochet workshops and designing my own crochet patterns and kits.  If I’m totally honest with you, The Crochet Cabin is my own creative classroom; it’s full of bright and colourful crocheted bunting for all seasons, warm and cosy hats and scarves, and practical baskets and fashionable bags – perfect for storing all that yarn you’ve collected and accompanying your new outfit.  I’m lucky enough to have a lovely teaching space in the cabin that takes the form of a table and seating, which feels like we are all gathering around the kitchen table, communing with our woolly projects, surrounded by the birds and trees in my garden. And it’s all this that I’d love to share with you.

So, here’s a proper secret coming up: since I resigned from my teaching job in 2018, I’ve been trying to shake off the feeling of ‘being a teacher’. But no matter how hard I’ve tried, the love of teaching and learning just won’t budge; I just love teaching – it’s that simple!

And the thing is, I’m not too shabby at it either, which means I can teach you how to crochet a whole host of modern and trendy makes, and instil a confidence in you that you didn’t know existed.  You’ll be the talk of the town once your friends and family start seeing all your handmade creations appearing around your home and garden!

And another little secret – your love of learning something new becomes addictive, and once you start, you can’t stop!
