Crochet Pattern: Star Basket – If you’re a practical crocheter and love making things with a purpose, then you’re going to love my crocheted star baskets! Perfect for any time of the year, these baskets are great for displaying seasonal gifts and decorations, and look super impressive on the coffee table!
You will need:
- 7mm or 8mm crochet hook
- 1 bobbin of t shirt yarn
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
- Darning needle
The pattern includes step by step instructions and pictures, and is suitable for someone who has crocheted before.

T shirt yarn is made from recycled t shirts. This means it can differ in thickness and elasticity, and may sometimes have knots where it has been joined. Depending on how thick it is, you might need a bigger or smaller hook than I have suggested but I find that an 8mm usually works for me. When crocheting with T shirt yarn, try and move your whole arm from the elbow rather than just using your wrist; this should make it a bit easier, although it can sometimes feel like you’ve done a workout afterwards!
